Lost… Prone to Wander

Lent Devotional – One Step Closer Every Day

Spend a few minutes every day, reading, meditating, writing and praying with God so that you can take one step closer to Jesus every day.

Sunday – Luke 15:11-32 -Re-read the story of the Prodigal Son.  Focus this week on the youngest son who left home.  Spend some time thinking about his journey, what was going through his mind and how he must have been feeling.

Monday Genesis 25:19-34 -Jesus was often hardest on those who should have known better – the religious leaders.  Why do you think it’s so easy for “church folks” to forget their calling?  Write a note to a church leader you respect.

Tuesday Matthew 23:1-39 -How does it make you feel that God sees you like God sees that lost sheep?  You are worth searching for.  You are worth celebrating!  Write a note to someone who might feel lost.

Wednesday Psalm 42:1-11 – Have you ever felt like a failure, alone, forgotten, lost???  You are not alone, and yet, God has already and always forgiven you.  What does forgiveness mean to you?  Write a note to God thanking God for forgiveness.

Thursday Titus 2:1-15 -Isolation is dangerous.  We need each other in order to learn and grow.  Who are the people you are learning from?  Who are the people that are learning from you? Write a note to each.

Friday Proverbs 17:1-28 -Think about how this wisdom could have helped the Prodigal Son and how it might be able to help you.  Write a note to a good friend.

Saturday 1 Timothy 4:1-15 – Jesus is our ultimate teacher and he expects us to model and share what we have learned.  Spend some time reflecting on the great teachers in your life.  Write a note to a teacher who changed your life.

Family Focus -Try out the Labyrinth this week. See page 8 in this devotional for more information.
