Lent Devotional – One Step Closer Every Day
Spend a few minutes every day, reading, meditating, writing and praying with God so that you can take one step closer to Jesus every day.
Sunday – Luke 15:11-32 -Re-read the story of the Prodigal son. Focus this week on Jesus and why he told this story. Spend some time thinking about his journey, what was going through his mind and how he must have been feeling.
Monday – Luke 6:12-26 – Look at all the different kinds of relationships in which Jesus invested himself. Think about your circle of relationships and identify the ones you should strengthen. Write a note to someone you haven’t connected with in a while.
Tuesday – Genesis 1, 2 3 & 4 –Look at the beginning of humanity and identify how relationships are both critical and dangerous. How can you engage in healthy relationships and avoid the dangerous ones? Write a note to a childhood friend.
Wednesday – Mark 6:6-13 – Jesus sent the disciples into the world to make a difference. How can you change the world through your current relationships? Write a note to someone who changed your life.
Thursday – Luke 10:25-37 – Describe how Jesus explains “Love your neighbor.” What do you think God is telling you about your relationships through this passage? Write a note to someone who is your “neighbor.”
Friday – John 13:31-38 – Sometimes despite our best intentions, our relationships fall to pieces. Identify some relationships that you need to seek healing. Write a note to someone you miss (even someone who has passed).
