Great Expectations – Expect the Unexpected

One Step Closer Every Day

Spend a few minutes every day, reading, meditating and praying with God so that you can take one step closer to Jesus every day.

Sunday – Matthew 1:1-25 – Why do you think Matthew included gentile women like Rahab, Ruth and Tamar in the lineage of Jesus?

Monday – Matthew 2:1-23 – Jesus’ first years were as chaotic and dangerous as his last. What do these stories about Jesus’ life tell you about your own?

Tuesday – Mark 1:1-13 – Mark doesn’t spend any time on the Birth of Jesus but focuses on John the Baptist and the fulfillment of Old Testament prophesy. Think through your understanding of John the Baptist.

Wednesday – Luke 1:38 – In Luke we get a lot more background information on Jesus’ family and birth. Put yourself in Mary’s shoes, how would you have reacted?

Thursday – Luke 1:39-80 – Reflect on how Mary’s family helped her through a difficult time. Who does that for you? For whom can you be that help?

Friday – Luke 2:1-40 – Why do you think God chose to include the Shepherds as some of the first to hear about Jesus? What does that tell you about the character and heart of God?

Saturday – John 1:1-18 – John is the story of Jesus’ birth from God’s perspective. What in this passage jumps out at you?
