Weekly Devotional – One Step Closer Every Day

Spend a few minutes every day, reading, meditating, writing and praying with God so that you can take one step closer to Jesus every day.

Sunday –Isaiah 61:1-11– In what ways can you join with God to “Rebuild, Restore and Renew” the broken things in the world around you? Write down the “broken things” that come to your mind.

Monday John 17:1-26– In this passage Jesus prays for himself, his disciples and you and me. What does “Unity” look like to you? What do you think is the difference between “Unity” and “Uniformity”?

Tuesday Psalm 1:1-6– What does it mean to you to be “Blessed” by God? Think about times in your life when stood, sat or walked away from God’s path. How can you be more like the tree in verse 3?

Wednesday Luke 4:14-30– Jesus’ mission statement excited and encouraged people until they understood that living into it might require discomfort and sacrifice especially to their traditions. What are the traditions that you might hold to tightly?

Thursday Isaiah 58:1-14– Who are the “hungry and oppressed” that God is calling you to reach out and serve? How do you identify and engage the marginalized in your world?

Friday –Mark 10:35-45– Think of some of the “Greatest” people you have ever known. What does it mean to be GREAT in the Kingdom of God? What do you need to do in order to become GREAT in God’s eyes?

Saturday –Joshua 24:1-27– Joshua challenges all the people to choose whom they will serve because the reality is you are either choosing God or someone or something else. Whom are you choosing?
