Children’s Ministry Program Coordinator – Job Description

The Children's Ministry Program Coordinator will partner alongside the Children's Ministry Director and the entire Family Ministry team. This person supports the programmatic needs of the ministry and its leaders. They must be organized, routined, and able to think on their feet. They can help prepare things for the program and get things setup ahead of time or work with other volunteers who do this. During the program they can be the one to trouble shot issues, track down missing supplies, or fill in for an open volunteer spot. Resume will not be read without a cover letter. Strong spiritual background required and must have a heart for K-5 children programming.

Job Description:

Sunday 8:00AM - 12:00PM

  • Set up welcome desk
  • Open and close all classrooms
  • Fill in any volunteer spot open
  • Gather all sign in sheets and place in mailbox

Wednesday 12:00PM - 8:00PM

  • Set up and close for Wednesday Night Kids group
  • Co-lead Wednesday Night group

Thursday 8:00AM - 4:00PM

  • Set up curriculum planning meeting. Have all curriculum printed and read through
  • Prepare curriculum/supplies for both weekly/monthly
  • Curriculum is planned 1-2 months in advance - create supply list
  • Create new theme on stage/bulletin boards each month
  • Social media posting
  • Keep resource room clean and organized
  • Help on events within your hours or willing to adjust hours. Examples: VBS, UPWARD,

(Possible flexibility in Thursday Hours)

Job Type: Part-time


Salary: $14.00 - $20.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Weekends as needed

Lead Custodian

Shiloh United Methodist Church is seeking an organized, energetic and talented candidate to fill this full-time position as Custodial and Facility Maintenance Supervisor. 

 

The mission of Shiloh United Methodist Church through the Spirit is to glorify God, develop disciples of Jesus Christ, and change the world.

 

This position reports to: Board of Trustees (Chair)

This position is supervised by: Senior Pastor

 

Major Responsibilities

-      Participate as an active member of the custodial staff, sustaining a clean, well-maintained building for visitors, members, participants and staff.

-      Supervise the custodial staff:

o  Work with the other custodians to maintain the cleanliness of all areas of the building as well as minor building and equipment repair and maintenance.

o  Train and follow up on proper cleaning methods as well as use of all machinery required to perform their job properly.

o   In partnership with the Office Manager and Senior Pastor, this position will coordinate the daily activity of the custodial staff, including the responsibility of administration (time sheets, vacation, evaluations, etc.). 

-      Maintain the building

o  Perform reasonable repairs that are within the skill set of this position.

o  In consultation with the Board of Trustees and the Office Manager, determine which repairs necessitate an outside vendor to perform. 

o  Contact and direct outside vendors in the repairs determined in the above responsibility.

o  Primary on-call person for building issues (fire alarm, flooding, etc.).

 

Custodial Responsibilities: Working with the custodial staff, this position will be responsible for making sure the following are completed:

-      Building 

o  Cleaning rooms and restrooms, hallways, and open areas

o  Ensure Preschool classrooms are clean and ready for next day use

o  Sweeping and mopping floors

o  Buffing floors

o  Cleaning windows and glass doors

o  Stripping and waxing floors

o  Maintain adequate inventory of janitorial supplies within your assigned areas

o  Set-up and tear-down of tables and chairs for worship or other ministry events

o  Assist with other ministry events as needed.

·      Grounds

o  Clearing entrances and sidewalks of snow and ice in winter

o  Keep parking lots and lawns free of trash and debris

 

Maintenance Responsibilities for the Building AND Grounds – This position will be responsible for the following:

o  Partner with the Trustees for the care and development of the property resources entrusted to this Church by God

o  Monitor building and grounds for potential problems and report same to Office Administrator

o  Advise Senior Pastor and/or Office Administrator of any maintenance or custodial issues that require outside attention by the Trustees or an outside contractor

o  Partner with the Trustees to perform minor maintenance and repair on building, grounds, and both indoor and outdoor equipment

o  Cleaning of gutters and roof drains of debris

o  High School Diploma or GED

·      Experience 

o  1-3 years of progressive experience in custodial and facility maintenance

·      Skills

o  Ability to supervise and train subordinates.

o  Ability to work during high and active building occupancy

o  Flexibility to change work priorities quickly as directed by the Pastoral Staff, Office Administrator, or Trustees.

o  Ability to function as the go-to person for visitors and lay workers during non-office hours

o  Ability and willingness to climb ladders

o  Ability to take charge during a severe weather or other emergency

o  Ability to lift 20 pounds (chair and table set-up)

o  Build and maintain a team environment and to create processes to accomplish stated goals
